Jeff Siler is a professional poker player from Kansas City , MO. Until recently, his background and main focus was deep stacked NLH cash games. He is now extending his success to tournaments.
In December of last year, he entered a satellite tournament for a seat into a WPT event at the Five Diamond World Poker Classic held at Bellagio. Not only did he win a seat, but he went on to win $33K in his first WPT event.
After his first WPT event, Jeff made a decision to focus on tournament poker. He experienced significant success in a short amount of time. Within 2 weeks he won an event and made 4 final tables. A few weeks later he placed 2nd in the $1500 WSOP Circuit Event at Council Bluffs , Iowa . A month later, he followed that success with a final table finish at the $1500 event at Reno WPT World Poker Challenge. Along the way, he won 4 seats in WPT events.
Jeff is no stranger to understanding numbers, logic, or people. He has a well rounded background having served in the U.S. Military and Corporate America. He graduated from West Point in 1992 with a BS in electrical engineering. After graduation, he served as an officer in the U.S. Army achieving the rank of captain. He held a variety of leadership positions in locations throughout the world including 6 months in Saudi Arabia .
He believes his military experience contributes to his success at the poker table. As an officer, it led him to understand people and their motivations better. And, he believes it honed an ability to make difficult, yet quality decisions with limited information while under pressure – a nice quality to have while at the poker table.
After the military, Jeff entered into the high tech world of Silicon Valley . He was promoted in a short period to various leadership positions. He spent 10 years in Corporate America in variety of marketing and sales positions.
Jeff began playing poker at an early age and continued to play while in the military and throughout in his years in Corporate America. After a decade in the business world, he made the difficult decision to leave and apply his skills to poker fulltime. He has not looked back since.
Jeff is often known by fellow players for his uncanny ability to put players on precise hands with little to no information. He has proven in many situations that he is “psychic” when it comes to reading other player’s cards. You can expect this to contribute to his success in tournament poker.
He is married with 2 children. He enjoys traveling, playing golf, and writing about poker. Be sure to check out his poker blog here on this website.
